Alexandria Hoffman, flute

Chicago native Alexandria Hoffman is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Flute Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music. She received her Bachelor's in Flute Performance and Music Education from Northwestern University, graduating magna cum laude. Her principal teachers include Mary Kay Fink and John Thorne.

Alex performed as a fellow with the National Orchestral Institute at the University of Maryland this past June. Later this summer, Alex will be competing as a finalist for the National Flute Association's Piccolo Audition and Masterclass Competition.

In addition to these accomplishments, Alex previously attended Centre D'Arts Orford where she studied with Mathieu Dufour, Robert Langevin, and Denis Bluteau. She has also performed in piccolo masterclasses for Jennifer Gunn, Cynthia Meyers, and Alyce Johnson.

In 2016, Alex was a featured soloist alongside Claire Chase in the International Contemporary Ensemble's concert of Cutting the Circle of Sounds by Salvatore Sciarrino. Other performance highlights include chamber concerts with noted jazz musicians Victor Goines and Branford Marsalis.

In her four years at Northwestern, Alex played in the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, she played piccolo in the Northwestern University Marching Band and served as music director for Sigma Alpha Iota’s Beta Chapter. She currently plays with the Cleveland Institute of Music Symphony Orchestra. In her free time, Alex enjoys running and exploring her hometown of Chicago.
