Dan Grantham, trumpet

Dan Grantham is an active free-lance artist and teacher in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is principal trumpet of the S.W. Ohio Philharmonic and member of the Kentucky Symphony, and performs regularly with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Cincinnati Ballet, Dayton Philharmonic, and the Springfield Symphony. Dan has served as Trumpet Professor at the University of Dayton, East Tennessee State University, and is the Instrumental Music Director at the Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy.

He is the former principal trumpeter of the Lexington Philharmonic and the Middletown Symphony Orchestra, and has performed and recorded with the Cincinnati Symphony and Pops Orchestra. Dan has also been on multiple European tours performing with the Euro Brass and the American Sinfonietta.

As a soloist and chamber musician, Dan was a prizewinner in six major competitions including the National Trumpet Competition, the International Trumpet Guild Solo Competition, and was a finalist in the Ellsworth Smith International Solo Trumpet Competition. He is also a founding member of the Canterbury Brass Quintet, first-prize winners of the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition and the New York Brass Quintet Competition. He currently performs with and is the music director of the Seven Hills Brass.

As an educator, Dr. Grantham has taken student groups on several musical tours and cultural exchange trips throughout North America, Europe, and Africa. He received his MM and DMA from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music.
