Keven Keys, bass
Keven Keys’ “handsome, mahogany tone” (Washington Post) has delighted audiences with a wide range of repertoire from Bach to Bernstein, from opera to oratorio and art song. Career highlights include a concert of arias and duets with Carol Vaness, title roles in Verdi’s Falstaff, Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi and Rachmaninoff’s Aleko, as well as Guglielmo in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, John Brook in Mark Adamo’s Little Women, and Sam in Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti.
Recently, Keven performed the Mozart Requiem with the Illinois Philharmonic and Bach Cantata BWV 106, "Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit." He was invited back for a third season to the Peninsula Music Festival where he has performed Don Alfonso in Cosi fan tutte, and Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass.
Other concert credits include Mahler’s 8th Symphony, the “Symphony of a Thousand” with the Colorado Mahlerfest, Mahler’s 5 Rückert Lieder, Vaughn-Williams Dona Nobis Pacem, Mozart and Fauré Requiems, and the Bach solo Cantata #82, “Ich habe genug,” and the title role in Mendelssohn’s Elijah.
Keven is pursuing a Doctorate in Vocal Performance at Northwestern University, where he also teaches.
