Peter Sovitsky, tenor
Tenor Peter Sovitzky is making his debut with the Peninsula Music Festival as the tenor soloist in Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass. A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he completed his Master’s degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Cincinnati and earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Northwestern University, graduating Magna cum laude in 2000. As a freshman at Northwestern in 1996, Peter sang under the tutelage of Dr. Stephen Alltop in the Alice Millar Chapel Choir and is thrilled to be singing with him again. Last Spring he sang Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass with the Apollo Chorus in Chicago with Dr. Alltop conducting.
In December of 2007 Mr. Sovitzky made his debut with Eugene Opera as Tamino in Die Zauberflöte. Before that he appeared as Nanki Poo in The Mikado with Light Opera Works in Evanston, IL. Also that year Peter appeared with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra as the tenor soloist in their Classical Christmas Concert singing works of J.S. Bach and Monteverdi.
