Suna Avci, soprano
Soprano Suna Avci is a native of Darien, IL and is currently completing her Masters degree at Indiana University. Recent concert performances include Vivaldi's Gloria and Bach's Cantata BVW 1 and masses in A Major and B minor, as well as several orchestral and electronic works by young composers. She has worked previously with Dr. Stephen Alltop in a 2008 performance of the Lord Nelson Mass with the Apollo Chorus of Chicago, as well as in several other oratorio and concert works at Northwestern University, where she graduated in 2007. On the operatic stage, her roles have included Flora in Indiana University's new production of La Traviata, Nuria in the collegiate premiere of Golijov's Ainadamar, Josephine in HMS Pinafore (Richmond Symphony Orchestra), Madame Lidoine in Dialogue of the Carmelites, Cunegonde in Candide, and Lucy Brown in Threepenny Opera (Northwestern University). Miss Avci has been the recipient of awards from the Bel Canto Foundation, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and the American Friends of Austria. She currently studies with Costanza Cuccaro.
