Corey Grigg, baritone
Baritone Corey Grigg comes to the Peninsula Music Festival after singing the role of Silvio (Pagliacci) at Chautauqua Opera in July. He has twice performed the role of Ben Budge (The Beggar’s Opera) under the baton of Maestro Lorin Maazel as part of the Castleton Residency in Castleton, VA and in the inaugural season of the Châteauville Foundation’s Castleton Festival. He is a recent graduate of Northwestern University, where he earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in Voice Performance. There, his roles have included Count Almaviva (The Marriage of Figaro), Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Danilo (The Merry Widow), Belcore (L’elisir d’amore), Demetrius(A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Guglielmo (Cosi fan tutte) and Krušina (The Bartered Bride). A frequent soloist with Northwestern University choirs, his repertoire includes Orff’s Carmina Burana, C.P.E. Bach’s Magnificat, and Telemann’s Der Tag des Gerichts. He was a member of the Northwestern Baroque Music Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Stephen Alltop, and continues to cultivate his interest in Baroque repertoire.
