Laura Sauer, mezzo-soprano
Laura Sauer, mezzo-soprano, is a Chicago native and recent graduate of Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music. She received for MM in Voice & Opera, and also received her BM in Voice and Opera from Northwestern in 2008. Ms. Sauer has been seen in Northwestern Opera Theatre productions of Eugene Onegin, Die Zauberflöte, The Bartered Bride (Ludmila), Dialogues of the Carmelites (Mother Marie), The Old Maid and the Thief (Miss Todd), The Consul (The Secretary,) Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Berta,) Le Nozze di Figaro (Marcellina,) and The Ghosts of Versailles (Opera Box Ghost.) She made her Chicago concert debut singing Vaughn Williams’ Magnificat at The University of Chicago in 2008. Last summer, Ms. Sauer was a Festival Artist at Lorin Maazel’s Castleton Festival. In January 2010, she received The Bel Canto Foundation’s Bella Voce Award. Earlier this summer, Ms. Sauer was a Studio Artist with Chautauqua Opera, performing in productions of Norma, Cavalleria Rusticana, and Pagliacci
