Ravel: Le Tombeau de Couperin

Stewart Goodyear: Piano Concerto
Stewart Goodyear, piano
Commissioned by the Peninsula Music Festival - World Premier

Tchaikovsky: The Nutcracker, Op. 71, Act II

Ravel's Le Tombeau de Couperin was originally a piece for piano which was later orchestrated for orchestra. It has some wonderful passages for oboe which will showcase Eric Olsen, PMF's Principal Oboe. This marks its fifth PMF performance having been first performed in 1959 and most recently in 2000.

Stewart Goodyear offered the idea of composing a piano concerto for the Peninsula Music Festival and it was immediately and enthusiastically accepted. The performance will be a world premiere.

The concert concludes with Act II of The Nutcracker. (Act I performed the previous week) This is a rare chance to hear the complete ballet in the summer in its first PMF performance.
