Information For Students Applying For The Peninsula Music Festival ScholarshipScholarship Door County Music

The Peninsula Music Festival Scholarship is awarded each year to a graduating senior who desires to further his or her education in music. The scholarship is in the amount of $3,000.00 and is awarded as follows:

  • $1,000.00 awarded at the beginning of the sophomore year of college
  • $1,000.00 awarded at the beginning of the junior year of college
  • $1,000.00 awarded at the beginning of the senior year of college

The recipient must be an outstanding music student who is a resident of Door County. To be considered for this award, the student must have demonstrated his or her abilities as a performer and must have shown a sustained interest in music-related activities. Also, the student must major or minor in music while attending college.

To apply for the Peninsula Music Festival Scholarship, fill out the form below and attach or forward via snail mail the following information:

  1. An Essay you have written outlining your qualifications. This essay should include your past accomplishments in music, future plans, academic achievements, and any other information that you feel is appropriate.
  2. A letter of recommendation from a music professional.
  3. A letter of recommendation from your high school principal.
  4. Copies of your high school transcripts.

Applications should be postmarked no later than April 14, 2008 and sent to:

The recipient will be notified of his or her selection by April 30, 2008. A certificate will be presented at the annual awards ceremony at his or her school.

This award must be utilized for educational expenses. Checks are made out to and sent directly to the college that the recipient is attending. At the end of each academic year, beginning with the completion of the freshman year, the recipient is expected to furnish the Peninsula Music Festival with a brief progress report and proof of registration for the following academic year as either a music major or minor.musicfestival@dcwis.com.

INFORMATION FOR TEACHERS & GUIDANCE COUNSELORS

The Peninsula Music Festival offers Door County Music - Symphony Music - Wisconsinone $3,000 scholarship and five $100 awards each year to students who reside in Door County.

1. The Peninsula Music Festival Scholarship

This three year, $1,000.00 per year, scholarship is to be awarded each year to a graduating senior who desires to further his or her education in music. The recipient must be an outstanding music student, who has demonstrated his or her ability as a performer and has shown a sustained interest in music-related activities. Also, the student must major or minor in music while attending college.

To apply, a student must write an essay outlining his or her qualifications, including accomplishments in music, future plans, academic achievements, high school transcripts, and any other information he or she feels is appropriate for this music scholarship. Letters of recommendation must be sent from a music professional and from the student's high school principal. An application blank is enclosed and may be reproduced as needed.

The Executive Committee of the Board of Directors will receive applications and will select the recipient. Applications must be received at the PMF by April 14, 2008 and the recipient will be notified by April 31, 2008. A certificate will be presented at the annual awards ceremony at his or her school. The scholarship will be awarded starting at the beginning of his or her second year of college and continuing until the beginning of the senior year of college. The award must be utilized for educational expenses. At the end of each academic year, beginning with the completion of the freshman year, the recipient is expected to furnish the Peninsula Music Festival with a brief progress report and proof of registration for the following academic year with a major or minor in music.

Only one $3,000 scholarship will be awarded each year. The PMF retains the right to not award the scholarship in any year in which no applicant meets the criteria.

2. Peninsula Music Festival Summer Music Awards

The PMF Summer Music Awards consist of five $100* awards given each spring
to music students who are freshmen, sophomores, or juniors. One grant will
be offered to students in each of the five Door County Public Schools. The
purpose of the awards is to help defray the cost of music lessons or summer
music camps. To be eligible, students must have demonstrated a sustained
interest in music and commitment to further education in this field.

The music faculty at each school shall select a recipient by May 1, 2008.
Please include the names of the selected student(s), a brief statement about
each, how the award will be used (including the name and address of the
camp, music teacher or student to which the check should be forwarded), and
send all this info to:
