Door County’s premier performing arts organization celebrates its 56th season of presenting nine symphonic concerts in three weeks each August. Professional orchestral musicians come from all over the world to be part of this annual Music Festival under the baton of Maestro Victor Yampolsky.
For three weeks, concert-goers can immerse themselves in classical music at the intimate state-of-the-art Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek - built as a home for the Peninsula Music Festival. This intimate indoor concert hall has amazing acoustics that make every seat perfect for classical concerts. Air conditioned and comfortable, the Auditorium only seats 730 which includes a six row balcony. Take a virtual tour and see for yourself! You won’t be disappointed!
Repertoire spans the baroque, classical, romantic and modern repertoires with world class soloists for each concert. Conductor Victor Yampolsky leads this dynamic orchestra in concerts that will impress the seasoned symphony attender and charm the novice.
Concerts are every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday at 8:00 p.m. Tickets start at just $28.00. 2008 season highlights include a semi-staged version of Mozart’s Cosi fan tutti; Brahms symphonies 1, 2, 3 & 4 and cellist Lynn Harrell. Click on “August Symphonic Concerts” for a full list of repertoire.
In addition to the full symphony season each August, the Peninsula Music Festival presents a February Fest - three chamber concerts during the month of February! These concerts are presented throughout Door County at different locations, mostly area churches, bringing the music to the audience. These concerts often feature members of the Festival Orchestra and favorite guest artists from previous or upcoming seasons, giving the concertgoer the opportunity to see the depth of talent these musicians possess.
